Hi, I'm Allison, a graphic designer based in Western Massachusetts. I work with entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they do. My goal is not only to provide effective graphic design, but be a valuable business resource to my clients.
There is a special place in my heart for stationery design. I love to do it, and yet it doesn’t happen very frequently. So, you can imagine, when a dear friend of mine got engaged and wanted me to design her wedding stationery, I was beyond excited. And to top it off, this happy young couple is pretty open to my design ideas. They’re fun people.
Today, I’m featuring their Save the Date cards (I’ve changed the names and dates on the samples here). The bride and groom love to cook, and wanted both their affinity for food and their quirky personalities to come through.
Here is the final product, which got rave reviews all around!
I work with brides on wedding stationery on a case by case basis. If you’re interested in discussing your wedding needs, send me an email.

Using animation, projections and her own moving shadow, Miwa Matreyek performs a gorgeous, meditative piece about inner and outer discovery. Take a quiet 10 minutes and dive in. With music from Anna Oxygen, Mirah, Caroline Lufkin and Mileece.
I was approached by one of my clients this December with this fun project. This project was completely unrelated to her business- these labels were to be designed for holiday presents for her friends and family. My client was going to be whipping up a batch of this fabulous concoction of honey, ghee, and cinnimon (yum!), putting it into jars, and needed something special to seal the deal.
I went with this warm yellow and brown color combination to give people a sense of the flavors they are about to taste- warm caramelly goodness. Next was the fun part, the bee illustration. This was a special, and very specific request from my client, right down to the heart shaped leaves. I was very happy with the way that it turned out, and I have to say, that bee is pretty darned cute.
Most of my clients and potential clients think of graphic design for the usual, logos, business cards, brochures, but there is so much more! I would love to work on another project like this, it was a blast!
You have all gotten the dreaded spam emails, telling you buy repl1ka watches, or send money to a Nigerian prince. Artist Linzie Hunter has taken this normal nuisance and turned it into fun, letterform illustrations.
You see them posted in newspapers, on Craigslist… Those missed connection notes, that say “I saw you in the grocery store, and you were too beautiful for me to say hello.” I’d be lying if I didn’t have a secret fantasy of stumbling upon one of these notes and realizing that it was me that they were talking about.
Illustrator, Sophie Blackall, has taken these missed connection listings and turned them into art. Some are thoughtful, and like in real life, some are just awkward.
Everyone I’ve talked to is excited to see the new movie, Where the Wild Things Are, based on the book by the same name. Most of the time, I would get on my soapbox on how the movie industry can’t come up with an original idea– that they just constantly remake books, movies, and television that has all been done before, but this movie brings a certain sense of nostalgia. Which means I will probably see it.
When a new movie comes out, you expect to see the usual paraphenelia, T-shirts, posters, etc. with little thought given to the design. Just splash an image of the main characters across the front, or the name of the movie in a fancy font and call it a day. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Where the Wild Things Are items being sold through Urban Outfitters. Thoughtfully designed, and not screaming with commercialism. Items you can incorporate into your wardrobe or your house.
Bravo UO! See all the Where the Wild Things Are items here.
Moving gave me an excuse to cruise Etsy in search of great prints to fill my new place. I make a point of looking for items from independent designers and artists when looking for art for my walls.
1. The Pensive Wallpaper Print – The Black Apple
I understand the look she’s giving, but it’s completely indescribable. She’s like my kindred Mona Lisa.
2. SO VERY HAPPY (version 2) – dazeychic
Have you ever seen a bird that’s latched on to a french fry in the Micky D’s parking lot. They need to bottle that kind of joy.
4. A Simple Pledge - Lure Design
So I promise that I have never used any of these fonts, but it can’t hurt to lead by example right?
5, 6 & 7. Amelie Set of Three Prints- Almost Famous
Favorite movie of all time. Every time I see it, it makes me feel better about life. These prints are a tiny reminder of that.
